I do approve, and I am not surprised

Yea, okay, but…the crime rate in DC is an outrage. I cannot help but think that lifting the ban will increase crime even more. Now, I’m not stupid, I understand that the Supreme Court was created to uphold the Constitution…a Constitution that should protect the people. Guns don’t protect people, that’s a lie the NRA told you. So….by extension, the Supreme Court should not have  overturned the ban. I would get laughed out of court with that reasoning but oh well.

I am no huge fan of firearms here, and like I said, I don’t think I’d own one, but to think that legal ownership of guns will increase crime is sort of naive… people who are committing these violent crimes will continue to obtain guns in the same manner they always have - illegally. Overturning the gun ban does not mean gun stores are going to pop up on every corner in DC.

But really, I can’t form a real, coherent opinion on this issue because I do agree with points from both sides and my brain is clouded by the über masculinity of a dude carrying a gun. Sorry.

to think that legal ownership of guns will increase crime is sort of naive… people who are committing these violent crimes will continue to obtain guns in the same manner they always have - illegally.” yes. just like locks of your front door, laws are for honest people. they don’t actually prevent somebody from doing what they’re already going to do, they just make it more difficult. and who honestly believes that gangsters & thugs buy guns from gun stores who require background checks and waiting periods?

let me begin by stating in ALL CAPS for emphasis I AM A LIBERAL.  Now, with that out of the way, let’s get to the facts.  Gun Control does not work, at all, ever.  Watch what happens now.  If anything, crime in DC is going to go down. During the ban, a criminal in DC would know that whomever his victim, they would be unarmed.  Now, said criminal needs to worry whether his victim could blow a hole in his ass.  That’s gonna change the dynamic, just a bit.

Guns are not an evil entity.  They are a tool, like any other.  Should we ban claw hammers because some sick fuck goes around bashing people’s heads in?  Liberals pride themselves on their superior logic, yet traditionally throw logic out the window when it comes to gun control.  I neither own, nor carry, a weapon, because I live in a low-crime area of a smaller metropolitan area.  If I move to NYC, DC, LA, NO, CHI, or any other major city, the first thing I’m going to do before I leave the ‘Burgh is go buy a pistol.  Granted, I have military training that some lack, but I think anyone who honestly wants to defend their self with a firearm should, and will, learn how to properly use it.

So, in closing, I feel that my beliefs on gun control do not contradict my liberal beliefs.  I believe in liberal gun control laws.  If that confuses you, I suggest you look up the meaning of the world liberal.
